Carter's Fishing Expeditions

Carter has recently re-discovered FISHING!  He is having a blast with his NEW fishing license, fishing pole, and blood worms.  The first afternoon he went with Mason and Britton Bangerter they came home with a good sized catfish.  He filled up the bathtub with water, played with it in the tub for awhile before skinning it and cutting it up for the freezer.  The day after he went fishing with Britton and they came home with about 4 good sized trout.  I have captured the cleaning portion that I find so disgusting.  Mason was having fun playing with the fishes head which I am convinced only a BOY could enjoy!  We fired up the charcol grill and grilled the trout so the boys could enjoy their catch.

Carter is going fishing again today.  Who knows what he will come home with today?!!  I am thinking he is going to stock up my freezer with fish.  Too BAD I hate fish!!  His dad will be happy though!

Scary Life Lesson

Chloe gave us quite a scare on Thursday after school.  She was crossing the street in front of our house coming from the neighbors house back to ours and was hit by an SUV.  She was thrown out of her shoes and broke the strap on her backpack.  She must have had a guardian angel with her because she was able to walk away with only road rash, bruises, and a concussion.  There are no words that can describe the horror of hearing "your child has been hit by a car".  I am so glad that Bryan was out there when it happened.  He was able to get to her quickly, keep her still, and calm her down until the paramedics arrived.  I, on the other hand, was a nervous wreck.

When something like this happens, it reminds you of how precious life can be.  It was a wake up call to me that no matter how many times you remind your child to look both ways before crossing the street it is never enough.  However, as a parent there are going to be times when you have to watch your child learn a lesson the hard way.  After two days of sleeping, crying, fever, and throwing up she is over the worst of it and will be extra diligent when crossing the street.  While it was hard to capture everything on camera, here are a few that Chloe can look back on to remind her of a hard lesson learned.

Teenagers & Baseball

Cassie never misses and opportunity to pose for the camera.  This is Cassie with one of her school friends, Kelsey.  This night we had a fun filled night of baseball in Riverton.  It was cold and windy but I enjoyed the game, nonethless.  The only thing bothersome was hearing Chloe try and talk to anyone and everyone who would listen.  I overheard her telling Cassie's life story to another player's dad complete with "she has hair extensions".  I think she would have relayed Cassie's bra size and blood type too, if she would have known that information.  Cassie couldn't wait to get out of her uniform after the game and made me stop at Carl's Jr. so she could change in the bathroom into her "teenage" attire.  Oh, and did I forget the boys?!  She invited Stetsen and Cody so the trip was not complete until after a drop off trip to Magna.  I knew there was a reason I bought a VAN :)
